Criticism Through Revision

Post by V.V. Denman » October 5th, 2010, 6:03 pm

For years, I've been trying to be less critical. Of family, of friends, of politics, of movies, of other people's annoying children. The list goes on. By nature, I am a critical person, but that doesn't make it right. It's just not Christian, you know?

So I try to be more loving, understanding, tolerant, even sweet. It doesn't look all that good on me, but try I do. I will conquer.

But the other day as I was working on revisions - editing, polishing, slice-and-dicing. I was having a great time, whooping raucously behind closed doors. When it hit me.

Writing is the perfect job for me.

I can spend all day being critical through revisions. Searching out every miniscule error and hacking it to shreds. Oh, the joy.
