Name that children's Christmas book!
For the better part of my life, I've been trying to find the title of a book my mother used to read to my brother and me. Neither of them remember the title, only the story. I even offer extra credit to my students, to no success so far. It's a picture book, thin pages (so whatever age they go to longer stories but keep it centered around pictures), about a bear and some kind of small animal (squirrel, chipmunk, mouse, something) who make each other Christmas gifts. The bear makes a scarf for the small animal, but it's too large, so the little guy uses it as a blanket. He makes mittens for the bear, but they're too small, so the bear wears them as ear muffs.
Sound familiar to anyone? I've searched Amazon (though not all 14,000 results). I've tried those book finder sites. I've asked all my acquaintances. It's like it never existed. And no, it's not Bear's First Christmas or Wake Up Bear It's Christmas or Bear's Stays Up for Christmas, which are apparently much more popular bear-related Christmas books. I can't keep searching! It's like constantly having a word on the tip of my tongue.

Sorry, no. It sounds delightful, though. What a cute story.

How sweet!
Sorry, haven't heard of it - but good luck!

It does sound awful sweet. I don't know of anything off hand, but I'll keep a look out when I hit Goodwill and junk stores. Have you tried to make up names for it? Like 'Bear Makes a Blanket' or something to see if hits come up?
Re: Name that children's Christmas book!
What you described sounds similar to "Bear Stays Up," so I looked that one up and found this one http://www.amazon.com/Wake-Bear-Its-Chr ... 767&sr=1-1. There's not much of a description of it, but it seems like it at least has the possibility of being the book you're looking for.

But in the original post, the OP said it wasn't. :3
Re: Name that children's Christmas book!
Oops. And I was just talking with some friends today about that test passed out at schools that says, "Read all directions before proceeding," and if you did, you would end up going straight to the bottom of the page and not answering any of the questions. Guess I still haven't learned!

Did we ever figure out this book? Just wondering - I'm curious myself what it's called.

Is it A Gift from the Lonely Doll? I think my mother used to have several of these books. The style looks familiar anyway.
