New Format!

Post by Nathan Bransford » September 24th, 2010, 9:36 pm

Hi everyone,

So, in an effort to accommodate the growing Forums and make them a bit easier to navigate I moved some things around and put the feedback forums on the Top Page.

Please let me know what you think! Is it easier to use? Too cluttered? Any other Forums you'd like to see?

Thanks very much!

"Administration" above Town Hall may be off-putting to new members. On some other message boards "Administration" signifies a moderator forum which is off-limits to the average poster. Not sure what to replace it with. Nothing? Just Town Hall with no banner?

Thanks, Quill. Gotta have some name because otherwise it will default to "Forum" so I went with Town Hall at the risk of redundancy.

I like it. It's well-organized, and easy to navigate. Funny, too. :)

Actually, after living with it a few days, I wonder if it's a bit overwhelming, like Quill was saying - to see so many forums.

You could combine some forums, like publishing/agent, query/synopsis and then combining all the discussion sections. I might also move the Ask Nathan and Page Critique threads up with the Town Hall. And space between the sections, so it doesn't look like a huge number of forums.

I'd put feedback last, since some come for discussion without the feedback part.

Well, I guess I'll throw caution to the wind. Here's how I would organize it:

All things....something
Town Hall
Ask Nathan
Nathan's Page Critique
----------------
---------------
(space between sections)
-----------------
----------------
All things discussion
Writing
Publishing (agents)
Books
Procrastination
----------------
------------------
(space between sections)
-----------------
----------------
All things feedback
Queries and Synopsis
Exerpts
Critique Partner

My two cents - hope I'm not over-stepping, and what ever you feel is best, of course. Just some suggestions. :)

Thanks, Mira, that was a good idea. I reorganized so that now it's hopefully a bit more self-contained.

Hope everyone likes this new organization.
