Happy Birthday, America!!

I might have my first ever 4th in San Francisco where the fog doesn't roll in and completely block out the fireworks. Stay away, fog! Just once!

Hey, I celebrated this 4th of July weekend by going to my first-ever major league baseball game. Hearing the anthem, getting up for the seventh-inning stretch, watching our team WIN,and gazing at the fireworks afterwards, it was a great time. One of those ultimate American experiences.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day to all! Coastal Californian fog rolling in on a holiday weekend? Why is John Carpenter music suddenly playing in my head? Da-dum! Da-dum! Da-dum!

Sure enough, I can see the fog creeping over Twin Peaks and the wind is howling. I think it's going to be fireworks on TV indoors tonight.

I'll light a sparkler just for you. Think of it as international cooperation. :)

Are they at Pier 39? Bet you could see them from the Embarcadero. Then you see all the pretty lights on the water.

I spent the 4th of July in England once. They were rather grumpy about the whole thing. :)

Everyone drive safe today, if you're driving and in the U.S. Well, actually, drive safe everywhere. That covers all the bases.

Happy 4th!

Of course the English were grumpy, Mira. They lost! But, joking aside, a belated Happy Canada Day to Bryan!

And in the US or Canada, drive on the wrong side of the road...I mean the right side of the road...I mean not the left...even on the left coast...nothing to do with politics...I mean your OTHER right!

Thanks, JT! We let the kids run around waving sparklers (well, not the baby...) and they somehow managed to burn themselves or each other or the house. A very good long weekend. Of course, now it's 112 degrees and our air conditioning is broken... That old line from The Wizard of Oz keeps popping into my head: "I'm melting! I'm meeeelllllltttiiiinnnngggg!"

I had the busiest 4th of July ever, since Secretary of State Clinton arrived in Baku and I had to help ensure things went smoothly. It was nice of her to meet with all of our families and let us take pictures with her.
