I knew it was big, but this totally puts it into perspective! Crazy!

OMG, my county is over 6000 square miles. The spill covers my county three or four times over in this screen shot. I'll be sharing this link with friends.

Thanks for sharing... Talk about perspective.

I know…it's just awful. And then to see the images of the animals covered in oil... :*(

I cried when I saw a video on CNN that showed pelicans and gulls stuck in the oil, some up to their necks. A civilization that treats nature like that over and over again won't be around long.

Any interesting take on this- My grown up job is at a hospital, and this morning I was standing at the coffee cart waiting for my favorite barista to make my latte, and a group of resident surgeons and their teacher come up behind me. There's a tv on in the lounge we're at and it's showing the news and the high def pictures of the leak site and the oil is spilling out of the giant metal tube. The resident doctors are all watching as well and they start making comparisons to it looking like a ruptured vein. Then they start talking about how to fix it if it was a vein. It's fascinating and kind of funny and when they go quiet one of them says, "Maybe they are going about this the wrong way. Maybe they need to send a surgeon down there." And then they launch into robotics and comparing it to heart surgery. They were kind of being funny, but they were totally serious about how you'd deal with it if it were a part of the human body.

Isn't it interesting how perspective can change everything? Heck, maybe BP should fly out some surgeons and see what outside the box thinking they can bring to the mix.

Sometimes it is too easy to approach a problem from the front.
