My first full!

Woohoo! Got my first full request! And it was the first agent I queried!

Any idea roughly how long I'll be waiting to hear back? I think someone once told me it could be a few months, but probably less than six.

I suspect that the answer is that there is no answer... that each agent is different...

Oh well, will sit here patiently, twiddling my thumbs...

Congrats, Cameron!

I recommend asking, at the time you send in the full, asking the agent for both confirmation that she/he received it and an ETA for a response (knowing, of course, that the second may vary greatly). I'd politely request an update at 2 months if you haven't heard back by then. It may take longer, but it's acceptable to nudge at that point.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, because I know that it's still easier to get rejected than accepted, even at this stage. (My partner had an agent consider his novel for a month before passing.)

I have a quasi-friendly connection with this agent that extends back a few months before I queried her. I wanted to try out a new genre (MM romance) but had no idea how to get started -- so I sent her a quirky email asking advice... and to my utter shock, she replied! I took her advice, researched, read, and then wrote and pitched to her. From there, once I set up a Twitter and Tumblr and sent her a note about it, she immediately followed me, and we've had a couple (very brief) friendly notes back and forth. And then later she asked for my full manuscript...

I'm trying not to read too much into it, but things are looking good so far.
