Resubmitting etiquette

Post by otherside89girl » September 8th, 2010, 2:01 am

If an agent gave feedback on a full, offering suggestions to improve the MS... but didn't invite me to resubmit... could I still resubmit after I've made the changes? Or is that a huge no-no?

And another thing, am I supposed to send a reply thanking her for her helpful feedback? Or not? Because I don't really feel like thanking her for a rejection, but I think I read on some agent's blog that it's rude not to.

Thanks.

I would send the agent a short, warm thank you. She took the time to let you know what she thinks the manuscript needs to be marketable. That indicates interest in your writing.

Do you agree with the suggestions? If so, I would tell her I planned to work on them and ask if I could resubmit when I finished the revisions.

Hi, Mira... that's Jennie, my collie. I took that photo for her rescue group calendar on one of the historic farms here in Gettysburg. They found her starving and matted four years ago and think somebody dumped her. She comes to work with me every day and has her own couch at home. :)
