Congratulations, Ink!

Now what are you doing on your computer? Go get some sleep . . .

Congratulations, Ink. Share a story with you.
My daughter: "Mudder, will you die?"
Me : "Yes, Pet, but not for ages, yet."
Daughter : "Well, if you do, can you buy me a house next door to you, in heaven? 'Cause I love you."

- and that's the meaning of life, I think.

Thanks! And I'll second that.

Story about my older boy, who's three:

I was sitting with him on the couch, and just had one of those moments where I was struck by the amazingness of this little child. So full of love... and I must have been gazing at him adoringly, because he looked up and said "Daddy, that face looks really nice on you."

Oh yes.

Specialness! I love his little knitted hat. And what a regal name. What is his brother's name?
Congratulations, Ink! May he be a wonderful sleeper.

abc,

The older boy's name is Beckett Nathanael Xavier Russell. We're into the short names, as you can see. And the new one is a pretty good sleeper! Likes his attention during the day, but sleeps well at night. Which is a Godsend.

Thanks kristi!

And, all things considered, we're doing not too badly sleep-wise. The new one's pretty good at night. His brother was middle-wise in turns of sleep (though a dreamy little fellow when awake), but his sister... sleep was not her thing. No sirree. So I know the wonder of a baby who sleeps well.

That's great - things run so much smoother when everyone is well-rested. We were the opposite - my son didn't sleep through the night until oh, about age three! My daughter was a champion sleeper from the get go - she must take after me. I love the name Beckett by the way. :)

Your son is beautiful Ink. And I love his name. May he be a healthy baby and sleep through the night!

I had my son on Febuary 22. He was 9 pounds, 12 ounces 22 1/2 inches long. And it is the opposite for us. He sleeps during the day and stays awake all night. Which is not doing very good things to my schedule.

Being a new parent is the most amazing and scary thing I have ever gone through. And that face you were talking about? I get that all the time.

He is beautiful!

I admit to no bias.

And yes parenting is both wizardly and scary. That first night home, when everybody leaves... and the sudden and complete responsibility for this miraculous little creature falls on you... well, that's something indeed.

If your little one has nights and days mixed up sometimes you just have to work at keeping them awake more during the day. Especially in the evening before the time you want them to sleep. Best of luck!
