Closing in on 10k sales by the end of the month (over not quite 6 months). Unfortunately, my checks still don't have lots of 1's and no zeroes at all. Two's, three's, eight's, those I got. (private joke between about five of us)

SQUEEEE!!!!

Okay, so this squee requires backstory.

On my recent Spring Break my father unintentionally gave me a fantastic plot idea. I kicked around, wrote a synopsis, and started showing it to my CPs. I also pitched it to my writing group. THEY LOVED IT. The amount of love they showed this book which I haven't even written yet was equal to or greater than the enthusiasm they had for the book I just finished.

Pretty much everyone told me to put my current book aside for later, because it's good, but this is better.

Also, recently, I won a contest for a 30 pg. critique, query critique, and skype call from Meredith Barnes. Well, I had that call today, and she loves it too! She said she thinks the premise is phenomenal, and had some really great criticism on my pages.

I'M JUST SO EXCITED!

Wasn't sure where else to post this (like we NEVER go off track in a thread, right?) but I thought people might be curious. I was certainly curious. Ever wonder what those Amazon sales ranks mean in terms of actual numbers of ebooks sold? Every once in a while a writer will mention they were selling x books per day when they were #xx on the Amazon Kindle bestseller list. Of course, it changes from day to day and involves a number of factors. But in general, in March, selling 35-40 copies a day would put an ebook right around #2000 overall in the Amazon paid kindle store. It's very likely that book would also appear in the Top 100 list for its genre.

Good for you, Charlee. :) Acronym n00b here -- What's "CP"?

By the way, I finished that first draft I mentioned a few posts above, clocking in at ~52K, which is approximately NaNo length. I started in mid-March and just finished this afternoon. Now I just have to print, set aside for awhile, and edit as necessary. :)

Ok, I feel like I'm taking over this thread. But, good things happen in threes, do they not?

I just participated in the April Miss Snark's First Victim Secret Agent Contest (It seriously needs a shorter name). I did not win. BUT another agent was trolling the entries and asked for my query and first 5 pages. I should be sending it off tomorrow. I will let you know if anything comes of it!

That SHOULD be all my squee for now.
