"The Lighthouse's Tale" by Nickel Creek. This one is told from the viewpoint of the Lighthouse! How cool is that?

"Love Vigilantes" by Iron & Wine. So sad. So, so, so sad.

Papa Was a Rolling Stone (Temptations)

And lots of Chris DeBurgh stuff: A Spaceman Came Traveling, Old Friend, Spanish Train, and pretty much all of his songs.

It would be a toss up between Stairway to Heaven or American Pie.
Two vast anthems with deeply symbolic content and social commentary.
Neither piece was designated by the artists in their minds as a commercial effort.

As a Triad companion piece to your Mariners Revenge.

The Old Man's Confession Piece.

God(8) & Lucifer's(Rachel) Final Comment echoing across the waves as they take their ships(Almighty) and bridges(Lords) and leave this world to its slow agonizing death.

Wait it's not over yet...
Somebody start a "The Event" thread already; before the dang lights go out. :-)
It's just a bunch of dreamers(storytellers) dreaming melodramatic dreams to amuse themselves.

Sheeeeze!!!!!

Not Dark Yet

Shadows are falling and I’ve been here all day
It’s too hot to sleep, time is running away
Feel like my soul has turned into steel
I’ve still got the scars that the sun didn’t heal
There’s not even room enough to be anywhere
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there

Well, my sense of humanity has gone down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing there’s been some kind of pain
She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind
She put down in writing what was in her mind
I just don’t see why I should even care
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there

Well, I’ve been to London and I’ve been to gay Paree
I’ve followed the river and I got to the sea
I’ve been down on the bottom of a world full of lies
I ain’t looking for nothing in anyone’s eyes
Sometimes my burden seems more than I can bear
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there

I was born here and I’ll die here against my will
I know it looks like I’m moving, but I’m standing still
Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb
I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don’t even hear a murmur of a prayer
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there

One full month into the query process I feel this song tells the story of how I feel---I've come undone.

Allow me to share a lesser-known song titled "Be Bop (I'm Bored and Buried Alive)." It is the story of a hapless captain of a high school football team who attempts to date the daughter of a mortician. The mortician, not wanting his daughter's reputation to be soiled, buries the hapless captain alive. Download it for free at the link below. It is a Halloween song in the tradition of classics like "The Monster Mash," but it isn't a classic... yet? :)

Enjoy the terrible slide-show for the song created by my former roommate, who sings on this awesome/awful track... :)

I haven't gone through the list so if it's been mentioned I apologize. I have a couple favorites.

This one always makes me giggle: My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors by Moxy Fruvous
And for some sadistic reason, so does this: Kiss with a Fist by Florence + The Machine

Yup, yup. It's probably because of the beat and it's easy to sing to. :3

To me this one is telling the heartbreaking part, the ending of my novel.

Six pages and I'm the first one to mention Skynyrd's The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe? C'mon now y'all, don't be snobs. You know it's a classic and epitomizes the experience of getting lost in what I call bare dirt Blues.

Heard this song in a restaurant today---first time I've heard it in years---and it made me think of this thread.

Iron and Wine always does it for me. I get lost in YouTube videos and iTunes just listening to his voice over and over again. I feel like he's always telling a story. But, this one is my favorite. Cinder and Smoke.
