Just for fun: What movie stars would be best for your MS?
Okay, this is just totally for fun, but do you ever think about who would be the best actor for your MS?
Again, okay, just for fun, but here's who I would pick. I would need a male lead who is impossibly handsome, but has depth. I'm thinking, either:
Russell Crowe, Jude Law, or Johnny Depp
And a female lead who is fascinating to watch:
Maggie Gyllenhal, Anne Hathaway, or Natalie Portman
Um, let's throw in Zac Effron for the teens, and we're good to go.
Anyone else think about this?

I love casting my MS. This is for my YA.
For my hero, I need brooding with a wicked sense of humor = awesome smirks.
So I envision Ian Somerhalder
for my heroine, I see her as sassy, speaking her mind even when she shouldn't.
So I see Emma Watson.

I always cast my characters when I am writing them. Not necessarily because I am thinking about a movie but because it helps me to get a handle on them. For example...I have RDJ as my villain...
and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as my detective.
The villain's target is not cast exactly but in my head he is sort of a blend of Michael Hutchence and a young Nick Cave.

For me this is more than difficult than it would seem.
for my two female leads I think I would need:
Natalie Portman
Rachelle Lafevere
For my male leads:
Ben Barnes:
Tom Welling
Villian:
Charlie Bewley
This was fun!

For some reason my comment didn't post. So try again. Also a detective novel.
John Hamm for my protagonist/detective. Hamm does the early 60's look well and he's a great actor. And he's uber handsome.
Audrey Tautou. She looks just right for the lost little rich girl beatnik.
Blake Lively- for the murder suspect and protagonist's client.
This is fun, Mira.

Who hasn't obsessed over the casting for their novel? Hell I even have the music, opening and closing credit scenes and the locations.
So for my 16-yr-old amnesiac MC - Angel, the choice is either Dekota Fanning or Anna-Sophia Robb (first choice I think).
For 17-yr-old Eli (autistic savant) - I see Daniel Radcliffe.
For the mischievously playful 19-yr-old Joe (love interest and forest ranger) - ORLANDO BLOOM!!!!! (Ok, he may be a little old, but I can dream can't I?)
For Troy the bully (AKA ferret-boy) - I kinda think Rob Pat might look the part (could be fun to see him in a bad-boy role) but I am not sure about his acting.

Yay! It's not just me! I cast these two very early on, and haven't changed my mind =) They ARE my characters!
"Scott Parker" - Jesse Spencer
"April Fletcher" - Isla Fisher
CharleeVale - watch out for Rachelle Lefevre - she double books her movies!!!

well, my characters are predominantly non-human, and a film version will be done in 3d (i'm currently teaching myself 3d to work on this aspect of the story).
so mine are all voice actors:
Tzalaran (MC) : Sean Bean or James McAvoy
Kraz (MC's older brother) : Michael Wincott or Alan Rickman
Anakaiden (Kraz's demon Patron) : Daniela Amavia

I'd rather hate myself for failing, than hate my life for never having tried.

Interestingly enough I almost always picture actors in my head when I'm writing. Dunno why, just kind of happens. Certainly makes writing a lot more enjoyable. Thought I was the only one crazy enough to do it, though, so thanks for making me feel less crazy
-----
I've had a shorter-haired version of Peter Davison ca. his stint on Doctor Who in the early 80s in my head whenever I write the protagonist. And since everyone else seems to be posting pictures, kind of like if you take this haircut:
put it on this:
and dressed him up in turn of the century clothing, bar the occasional costume change either because a case demands it or, admittedly, sometimes he just feels like it, dammit.
For the villain, I have Richard E. Grant in mind. Not entirely sure picture is needed in this case but I'm posting one anyway.
And I've had a weird Ian Hart voiced by Robin Atkin Downes thing going on in my head for the victim.
I could go on and on about each and every character as they come up, but I'll leave it at those three principal characters.

haha That's funny Jaime. I have a character named Scott as Jesse Spencer too.
And my protagonist (whose also a minor character in about three of my other stories) is DEFINITELY Jude Law, even though another character in the same story is also Jude Law, so that's what I would call a predicament...
And my female lead is either Kate Winslet or Robin Wright Penn, who have both done a movie with Jude Law, which is another problem. ha
I always set up actors to represent my characters, not in a fantasizing about the future of my book type of thing, just for fun, and it helps me keep everything organized and gives me a general idea of what they look like. I have trouble just making up a face to visualize. It's nice to put a face to a name, is what I'm trying to say.
His sister would be Maggie Gyllenhaal and his girlfriend (even though she's a bit younger than him) would be Zooey Deschanel.

Bahahaha, that's hilarious! He must be a Scott! I'll hand him over when I'm finished filming with him . . . no, wait, there'll be a sequel . . . I'll hand him over when he's free. NO - after the third movie. Then I'll . . . oh, shucks, we'll work something out ;)Aimée wrote:haha That's funny Jaime. I have a character named Scott as Jesse Spencer too.
