But the original Star Trek brightened up my childhood. What with Kirk pulling in his stomach and McCoy's bad toupe, not to mention all those semi clad Trekettes in soft focus. Nope, I'm with you there. First off, while I liked Star Wars just fine (sorry Nathan!), I don't have a special place in my heart for it any more that I do for anything else in the genre. I enjoy it, just not to the degree several of my friends do.

TOS is fun basically because of it's relentless special effects fail, blatant fanservice, bad accents and the fact it didn't take itself seriously. Except when it did.

Star Wars wins the artistic merit contest hands down (hopefully Nathan is appeased?), but I have the warm fuzzies for TOS.
