Hello to all,
Thankfully, or luckily, or both, my agent was able to rustle up interest for my MG (middle-grade) manuscript with some pretty reputable houses, which really exceeded my expectations. It was beyond exciting. Excitement fades once you realize you're not the lucky few who get those awesome pre-empt deals in like, a week. I'm on month four of my wait. Besides throwing myself into my WIP, i've been trying to find reasons to stay optimistic, so I'm hoping a few people on here will talk about their long (or short) wait to get a book deal!
How long did it take to get your book contract?
Re: How long did it take to get your book contract?
It can take a really really really long time. I'm reluctant to go into more detail than that, because I don't want to be discouraging. Basically, don't think about it. You can't control it. Write the next book. That's your part of the partnership between you and your agent and the only thing you can actually control.
