Ooh, I was eyeing that one on Amazon yesterday. I haven't read the Mortal Instruments series yet, though. Should I read those first for the prequel to make sense? (That sentence shouldn't make sense, LOL)

Halo by Alexandra Adornetto

It's actually pretty good. I was afraid of it, because of the way it was put in as a YA romance, but I picked it up for research. After all, angels becoming more popular is a good thing!

But the romance is an aside to the young angel learning about Earth. She's a nut. It's actually a pretty endearing little book.

And I say little lightly. 474 pages is a nice weight. It gives me hope for my books size. :3

Finished reading TINKERS by Paul Harding, a profound and beautifully written novel. Am now reading FREEDOM by Jonathan Franzen.

I'm only a couple chapters in, but it's pretty good so far.

I'm reading number9dream by David Mitchell right now. I really want to read The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet but my library doesn't have it, and I refuse to be "that guy" reading it at the book store.

unwieldy, I'm assuming you've read Cloud Atlas? If not, it's Mitchell's best work (in my opinion) and the culmination of his experiments from Ghostwritten and number9dream. The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet is also quite good, but if you put off reading it for a while, you'll be closer to the eventual next book that will supposedly continue on in the same vein.

A friend just lent me a copy of The Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem, and I'm rather enjoying it so far.

I've not read Cloud Atlas, but it is on my "to read" list. If number9dream doesn't amaze me, I may still try it out based on your recommendation.

The Fallen Series by Thomas E Sniegoski. I'm on "book two" which is actually the third and fourth books, Aerie and Reckoning. I read through the second book [Leviathan] in basically one sitting last night.

Though I have caught several typos and many little editing spots where it could have been tighter writing, it's an alright read. I'm basically along for the dog and the autistic child. I think it's going to end badly for me, considering.

I have to read a lot of "angel" books to make sure I don't accidently write something written before. I would hate to put effort into my book, only to be told, "Oh, sorry, this was already done by so-n-so, you can't rip them off".
