2011 Cybils Finalists Announced

Post by Sommer Leigh » January 2nd, 2012, 2:27 pm

Yesterday the 2011 Cybils Finalists were announced at the Cybils site: http://www.cybils.com/

Cybils stands for Children's and Young Adult Blogger's Literary Awards and is sort of like the people's choice awards for children's and YA books. The books are nominated by readers and then a panel of judges reads all the books in their category and chooses 7 finalists which then go on to the final round of judging to pick the winners.

I was blown away when my application to be a judge this year was accepted. I judged the Fantasy/Science Fiction - Teen category and I'm still working through all my stats but I believe I read around 100 books in the last three months. Anyone who reads my blog will not at all be surprised by the finalist in my category I was proud to champion, either.

Below I'm going to list the finalists in my category, but please take a moment to go check the other categories as well and see if there are any books you'd love to read too. If you have children, you're going to love the children's and middle grade categories!

Thank you everyone who supported me during this very busy Cybils season!

Finalists in the Fantasy/Science Fiction Category:
Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 1) by Susan Ee
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Misfit by Jon Skovron
Red Glove (Curse Workers, Book 2) by Holly Black
The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
The Shattering by Karen Healey
