Haha! Well, a rooted Nook Colour is pretty awesome. ;)

Most people are scared of tampering with their devices (and rightly so, I suppose). But rooting a Nook Colour is actually one of the easier rooting procedures and isn't prone to failure, according to what I've read.

Kindle. I felt iPad was more expensive than I could afford at the time, and I worried about backlighting. Since I mainly wanted it for reading and didn't need color, Kindle seemed the natural choice. I've been really happy with it.
