eBook Freebie: if you like Native American stories

Post by rose » March 9th, 2011, 2:47 pm

I have been testing the Smashwords waters, in preparation for publishing the memoir I am co-author on.

Smashwords does all the conversions needed to make a word .doc file readable on different devices. Once that is done, the book is then examined to see if it meets the stricter requirements of the individual booksellers (Amazon, B&N, Apple, Sony). If it does it is then listed in their searchable catalogs. Although I had originally posted this test story as a freebie, but I have since learned that Apple will not list a book that does not have an assigned price, so I have put .99 on it and created a perpetual coupon for a free download. I even managed to get the coupon code into the 400 character short description.

I fear I'll never be another Amanda Hocking, because I really hate self-promotion, but I know that many new ebook owners are always looking for free reads to stash away for a rainy day, so:
