Hunger Games - how long did Collins take to write?

Post by Jaya » October 31st, 2010, 10:00 pm

Just finished the first book.
Wow.
Love it. I have to wait for my library to get the other 2 before I can continue.
I'm curious if anyone knows how long it took Suzanne Collins to write these books? (Curious because from what I read lately, some authors write madly in mere months, others write it over the course of years).

I don't know that that's actually been asked of her, or that she's answered that question. Her first series (The Underland Chronicles) was released from 2003-2007, and Hunger Games was released in 2008. We don't know the turnaround from when the novel was accepted for publication and how long it took to be released, but based on those release years, I'd assume it took her no more than a year to write, plus however many edits she went through with it.

All hypothetically speaking, of course :)
