Good morning, everybody.

I guest blog this morning on S.B. Stewart-Laing's website Writing the Other http://sb-writingtheother.blogspot.com/ about my fun new ebook Haunted Ground: Ghost Photos from the Gettysburg Battlefield. The post includes the cover and a ghostly photo.

Instant gratification? Not with novel writing. So what keeps me going besides ice cream?

Trust the process
What we can take away from those times when writing doesn't quite flow like we want...and how to stick with an industry that gives us wonderful highs, heartbreaking lows and lots of mountains to climb.

I have two today as I forgot to post yesterday...

#1 Amazon Surcharge

On Monday, I wrote about the $2 Surcharge that Amazon is adding on to the price of your books to readers in most international countries (not DE or UK). This charge is nothing to do with taxes, and it's all kept by Amazon.

#2 Adult Print Fiction Down 25% in 2011

Print continues its astonishing freefall, with adult fiction leading the way - down over 25% in 2011 so far. But there was another piece of news that may give indie booksellers some hope, if they take advantage of it.

Following on from Monday's post about Amazon's boneheaded $2 surcharge that they levy on most international e-book purchases, today I have some news on Kobo's agressive European expansion. Amazon need to wake up.
