I've got a crafty post from last week! Crafts that will blow your mind with a kind of nerdy theme.

Oh, you guys have awesome blogs. I'm trying to hit a few a day.

Today's post is: What We Talk About When We Talk About Querying

What it's actually about is the advice you don't get when it's time to send the query out, or: how not to screw it up at the last minute. I wanted it to be funnier, but was so stinking burned out after painstakingly querying (guess what - didn't follow my advice and sent out one query with a mistake in it - nice).

I have posted my first book review on my blog, for startlingly-good debut author Suzanne McLeod's The Sweet Scent of Blood (alternate history/urban fantasy).

With the popular E3 Game convention underway, I've blogged about video gaming and its influence on the world of writing.

Video games are a perfect example of how important immersion is, and how they can help a writer to forge authentic and organic settings.

You also get to hear some of the best trailer music I've heard in a long time, courtesy of Michael McCann!

I wrote about one element of world building in fantasy - the 'national character' of the major human race in my novel. http://tedacross.blogspot.com/2010/06/t ... eople.html

Sure do and it's a killer. In it Hilary Wagner shares the query that landed her an agent for NIGHTSHADE CITY. Her novel that already has a very nice blurb from Rick Riordan.

My latest blog post asks the question, "What qualities in a leading man really do it for you?" There has been some lively discussion, but we can always use more input!

Ooo, fun! Can't wait to check out what you've all posted.

Today, after seven months of reading every blog my bleary, half-sighted eyes could handle (and only actually sending out three queries in total) in a moment of pure writerly angst over all the seemingly conflicting advice and disheartening stuff out there, I couldn't help but give a newbs perspective in the form of a twist on a classic...and I hope it makes you laugh.

I've been serious lately, writing about my Mom, and my years as a caregiver, on the fifth anniversary of her death in a post called Wildcats http://richardlevangie.com/blog/2010/06/06/wildcats/.

Then I decided to lighten things up by imagining all the Franklin the turtle books that could have been written if the series had continued into the awkward teenage years.
