I always say that if self-publishers want to have any chance of success they have to present their work in the most professional manner possible.
But you can follow all of the steps, to the letter, and still fall flat – with either poor sales or poor reviews killing your career before it even had a chance.
How?

It's the Novel Love List: http://claudiea.blogspot.com/2011/05/no ... -list.html A quick way to fall in love with your WIP all over again.

I posted about similarities I've seen between George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones and Tad Williams's The Dragonbone Chair while I've been reading the latter.

Today I posted the next step in my how-to guide to self-publishing.
Step 7: Reviews: How To Get Them, And How To Deal With Them
I show you why reviews are important, how to go about getting reviews on Amazon and Smashwords, how to find book bloggers, and how to get them to review your book. I also discuss paid reviews, dealing with negative reviews, and how to promote your book using positive reviews.

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
Indeed indeed, I do. This time, I review Bleak House by Charles Dickens at my webpage "A Curious Man": http://tbdeluxe.blogspot.com/2011/05/bl ... -time.html
On my page, you'll also find opportunities to purchase the e-book edition of my contemporary Dracula novel, Dragon's Ark. I'd place the links here, but that's just too crazy-making right now. . . .
Thanks for reading and take care!
Thomas

Another discussion today about a topic whose answer varies from person to person: why are certain characters more memorable than others? What makes them click? http://harbingercodex.blogspot.com/2011 ... vable.html
Hi, my name's Fenris. I'm a thousand-year-old monster who's broken free to destroy the world. Your kids will love me!
