Goodreads Giveaway Tips?

Post by Ryan » July 27th, 2012, 3:20 pm

Finally made the dive into Goodreads last week and decided to purge a few of my hardcopies through a giveaway. Any Goodread tips? I read a great blog post somewhere but can't find it again.

Cheers
Ryan

I know nothing about Goodreads (sorry), but I just wanted to say congratulations, Ryan, on stepping out in the world! :)

I hope it goes really well!

Great stuff in your post. I do plan on doing another give away. I gave away 8 copies (8 is lucky number in Chinese culture!). Just diving into Goodreads and I dig it. So busy right now but I like the idea of being able to interact with readers in a genuine way. With my book being a memoir, it's very personal when I have exchanges with readers. People have confided in me about their pets, losing loved ones, travels, and following dreams. As a writer, those are priceless things that make you feel good.

I'm sure there are Giveaway junkies that enter everything but I had a good response of about six hundred people and the "To Read" and "Currently Reading" bookshelf for my book tallied up. Well worth the few bucks to get the book into people's hands. If you have hard copies of your book I really recommend it.

Well, like a lot of things lately, I'm WAY behind on my schedule for getting things done. :)

As many times as I've tried to figure out Goodreads, I'm still at a loss as to how to get anything useful out of it!
