Publishing outside of the US

Post by jenisefrohlinger » August 21st, 2011, 5:41 pm

Hi Nathan,
I'll be starting my search soon for an agent, but was wondering if I were to put my novel up for sale internationally as an ebook (maybe just in the UK to start) to test the self-pubbing waters, would that effect my ability to get an agent or get published traditionally here in the US? My understanding is that agents don't take books that are already self-published. But would it make a difference if it were not self-published in the US?
Thanks Nathan! and BTW, I'm a huge fan of yours!

I can't speak for all agents, but I kind of think that self-published is self-published, whether it was just in one place or everywhere.
