I am soooo close to finishing my first draft of my WIP and I am super excited! I was curious what you've done to celebrate the completion of your first drafts? Maybe you don't celebrate until you've done edits, I don't know. Anyway, I just was curious what you do to celebrate - if anything...

PS - sometimes I come up with the most random questions/topics, sorry
What do you do to celebrate?

What a fun question!
I've been sitting here for a few moments, trying to think of what I do to acknowledge finishing my WIP. It makes me sad to realize that I don't really mark the moment at all.
I celebrate milestones--finishing NaNoWriMo being the biggest one. When I celebrate, it usually includes bragging rights and sharing the good news with my writing friends. (My real life friends are happy for me, but I'm not sure they quite understand what's involved.)
So yeah, I brag. Hmm... I should find a better means of celebration.

Didn't want to start a new thread - but - I FINISHED my first draft!!! I'm so excited and plan on celebrating by getting some ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery! Ha! Lame, I know, but it sounds good right about now in the 112 degree Phoenix weather

AWESOME!! Congrats, Kristie. And from one desert girl to another, Cold Stone is totally a worthwhile celebration!!klbritt wrote:Didn't want to start a new thread - but - I FINISHED my first draft!!! I used to celebrate a lot more than I do now. I used to do the cupcake/cookie/time off type of celebrations, texting my entire family that I'm done and sitting back and basking in the awesomeness of having completed something. Nowadays, I don't really do so much. I don't know why.
I am planning a massive party when I actually get a publication contract, though.
