Hi,
I'm in the process of writing a series of children's books for 9-12 year olds and after reading many different articles I am still stuck on the question of how many words. My problem lies in the content as it is fiction (the initial story) + facts (that link back to the story) accompanied by a small range of illustrations. All recommendations so far seem to split the fact and fiction therefore I am unsure which to follow.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Claire

Length of a....... I meant, not lenght. What a great start!
Re: Lenght of a childrens fiction + fact book
Children's books are out of my area, but if it's mainly a fiction novel, I'd go with the fiction length. Stick with the specs for the market you'd like to sell it in, and since there is an element of fiction in it you wouldn't be able to market it as nonfiction.

Great, thanks a lot for your feedback. Initially I think I was aiming slightly too short, I need to grab the bull by the horns and just run with it!!

Follow your instincts first, your heart second. But keep researching, too.Claire Jones wrote:therefore I am unsure which to follow.
