That's absolutely fantastic news, bcomet!

I'm so sorry that you still have to go through radiation therapy. But if I may borrow a metaphor, it looks like that plane you were forced to board is flying smoothly on....

Bcomet! I was just thinking of you and got on here to the forums to check in and what do I find?? Great news! I am SOOO happy for you. One silver lining in all the distress you have been under since you learned of your cancer - your writing will now have new and deeper life perspective. Obstacles and difficulties come our way to make us grow, even if they eventually kill us. (Really glad however, that this obstacle didn't go that far!)

Hello. Again, your kind thoughts are so deeply felt and nourishing and thank you all.

I just got some news, i.e. not so fast, bcomet...

Cancer, I am learning, is a journey...

I have, so far, gotten the best of news ( if you have to have cancer), but I'm being told there is much more to come. And, as well, the surgery is, um, well more than a "lump removed" and that is shocking to the body completely, as is the recovery.

I am trying to take this one step at a time. Looks like I am still in for more than I'd hoped to be in for. But, so far, the good news is still good, and the next steps will still be harder than I thought. One foot in front of the other, at a time, we go.

Thank you all for your good wishes, your support, your kind thoughts.

I am glad to hear of the good news you've had! I've heard it is a journey. I work with several oncology nurses and they always talk about it in those terms. I hope you're doing well though, all in all, and I'm so so so happy you come and keep us updated. I think about you from time to time and mentally send a little good luck your way :-)

Working my way through the medical and the spiritual of it. An unraveling, a regrounding of what's important, and a leaping towards/into what will heal me. Love. Of course.

Long days followed by lighter days. I LOVE the light!

I wanted to report in. I have just completed six weeks –five days a week– of radiation treatment. It was *intense* enough that I had to make a decision to continue with it every single day. I completed my last treatment on Monday and have been sleeping for the last forty-eight hours. I burned painfully. My body was overwhelmed to the point that I had to be on sedatives to stop having spasms when the beams hit me. My body revved up and then was exhausted after each treatment. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

The amazing staff at the Radiation Department at the University of Michigan Hospital were so very very kind to me. I cannot be more grateful for all the kindness I have had.

And now I get to heal and recover. It may take weeks or months. I will be looking forward to writing again in the new year.

But since I was so often active here in this amazing forum community before and because, when I recover, I hope to be again, I wanted to let you all know how I was doing and wish you all the Joy of this Season.

With Love,

Your bcomet
