I don't know, wouldn't a clap smiley be like a stage direction in a script? A tell? [Chorus and orchestra applaud.] Are we not creative writers? Shouldn't our words speak for themselves? Res ipsa loquitor, the thing speaks for itself, although, I guess could apply equally to a smiley and to context, which I'm sure writing sincerely there's a need for a clapping smiley is context in written words. I'm partial to Huzzah! and outstanding. Gimme a standing ovation and pleas for an encore already, thinks the vaudeville player. Finger snaps for the Beat poet.

Oh how sad, the sauce that is Worchester!
It sits all alone at its micro-computerer
Hoping and wishing a poem would be twitterered
But no tweet is sung for our poor Mr. Worchester!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Rhyming is easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I'll have to come back later with my tribute to an orange. My Worchester poem exhausted me.

Who else suddenly thinks we need regular, spontaneous poetry (of questionable taste (pun not intended) and talent) prompts to keep us on our toes?

Who else really wants more condiment poetry from Mira?

Thanks guys for the liking, hand clapping and finger snapping for what I now deem my Worchestor Sauce Poetic Masterpiece.

You know, Sommer, that's a great idea - prompt poetry. We could even do it Tag poetry, maybe.

We could start with Orange. For Watcher. ;)

If you see this - Medusa, what do you think? It's your thread, so should we do that here? Or take it to another thread and leave this one for serious poems?

Oh, no no no. I may have started this thread, but it has evolved into a life of its own. I claim no ownership. Whatever is the group consensus is fine with me. I would love to play, though, so if its decided that a new thread would be more fitting, please point me to the new thread!

Let's do it on another thread, then, so we can save this thread for serious poetry.

Although the momentary interest in writing silly poems about condiments may have passed. We shall see! :)

Never! There is always time for condiment poetry. Always! So what do you think, in the procrastination section?

Um, too late for serious. I've already posted on this thread.

Ha! Beetovanfan, good point. But I liked your poems! :)

Procrastination thread sounds great to me, Medusa. Do you want to post it....?

I'm getting my poetry fingers limber for limberger. That's a condiment, right?

A parody (sung to the tune of “Paint It Black”)

I Want To Paint It Orange

I see a white fridge and I want to paint it orange
No fruit anymore I want to eat an orange
I see the trucks drive by without their orange cargo
I have to hang my head until my orange grows

I see a big grapefruit and it is painted orange
You can’t fool me, I’ll let it rot in storage
I see people eat their orange and quickly turn away
My need for C grows more most everyday

No more will my green orange turn to deeper blue
I could not foresee this happening so soon
If I look hard enough into the fridge’s bin
My orange will laugh at me before I eat again

I see a white fridge and I want to paint it orange
No fruit anymore I want to eat an orange
I see the trucks drive by without their orange cargo
I have to hang my head till my orange grows

I wanna see it painted orange, painted orange
Orange as UT, orange as anemone
I wanna see an orange I can call my own
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted orange

Mira-

I think a thread called Tag Poetry would be an awesome idea. Challenge each other to write (probably) bad poetry on the fly. Sounds like something I could get into :-)

How 'bout if I move my last post to "Procrsstination", then edit it here (replace it with real poetry) - then we can reserve this thread for serious efforts?
