Light At The End of The Tunnel

Post by THE_INVINCIBLE_5 » July 16th, 2021, 7:23 am

In the forest of my heart,
Resides a parasite.
It devours me from inside,
An insatiable mite.

The monster of the forest
Needs a few cuts at least,
An offering of blood,
To pacify the beast.

As he gets stronger day by day,
Taking more blood,
He drowns me in sadness,
A whole flood.

He has captured the sun,
There is no light,
I beg you,
Save me from this plight.

He hunts the creatures of happiness,
Roaming my heart,
Killing every good feeling,
With his poison dart.

He has taken everything now,
I am dead inside,
Seems like the only way to kill him,
Is to commit suicide.

I could hear him rejoicing
As I stood underneath the noose.
This shook me out of reverie,
And made my resolve loose.

I knew I couldn't let my tormentor win.
He had me in constant strife,
But I promised,
I would not give him my life.

I heard then of a powerful creature,
Capable of crushing the beast,
I felt hope rising within me,
Rising like yeast.

I felt skeptical later,
For who could take on the monster's might?
My hope was ebbing,
Receding like the promise of light.

But then, I felt the demon tremble.
I knew it was merely a dent,
But scaring the fiend
Made me feel like Clark Kent.

It took all my courage,
But I decided to go to the knight,
Intent on repaying the monster,
And banishing him from sight.

I really enjoyed this. It drew me in and I certainly felt for the poor owner of the parasitic infestation. I would have enjoyed more detail about the savior.
