Conferences: credibility, and finding the right one

First, are all/most conferences credible, or are some of them scams? Is there a place we can check them, like the Preditors and Editors webpage for checking ...

My (small) piece for banned book week: http://williammjones.blogspot.com/2010/ ... -2010.html

Re: QUERY- YA Mystery- Mad as a Hatter
The year is 1882, and London is in a state of terror due to a string of brutal murders. Not the best way to enter the Yuletide season. When he was a child, a madman kidnapped fourteen-year-old Marquis Emil Aleric and his sister I agree with what's been said here. Also, saying he was a child and fou...

Re: I'm A Nobody, YA Fantasy (New draft and a question)
I've gotten six rejections, with no hint of interest, so I went back and looked at my query. I figure the problem is the length, so I cut it down to two paragraphs of summary. How about soul peices, because that's what it feels like it costs to hit that send button. I shudder to think how it will feel after I've been querying for a while.

IT'S A SERIES? How did I miss that one? I thought it just had one of those more open endings, letting the reader wonder what's going to happen. Can't wait for book two.

Incarceron
I was in Barnes and Nobel looking for new books a few days ago, and one caught my eye. I'll admit, I judge books by their covers way to often, and I really liked this on. It was black with dark grey clock gears and a glass key. The lettering had the same clock-like style. So I picked it up and read ...
