Re: Fight like hell for your literary dreams!
Hi, To anyone who might be curious, I just wanted to give an update. My Kickstarter project successfully reached its goal yesterday (July 19th, 2012) with 61 backers. Thank you all for the support! It was long journey with many failures and successes. Don't give up! Fight like hell for your literar...
Re: Tears
Having people tell me they laughed and cried while reading my books makes me happier than pretty much any other compliment. When they tell me I've made them do both within a few pages or at the same time, I'm ecstatic.

Re: Self published author newly looking for an agent
Yes to everything Mira just said. Read Nathan's post and David's blog and then google non-fiction proposal and you'll have more than enough to keep you busy for a while. Small press and paper self-publishing are also viable options. And make sure to keep building your brand by increasing your online...

Re: Self published author newly looking for an agent
Welcome to the forums and congratulations on the success you've had with your self-published book. I can answer one of your questions with absolute certainty: When an agent asks for you to include pages they want the first pages of the book. Period. No grey area whatsoever. I can answer another with...

Re: Adventure/Fantasy Agent.
I'd never had made it through agent searching and querying without the use of QueryTracker.net ---you can search agents by genre, read comments, see stats about the agent, and the agency blog is always listed as well as links to interviews the agent has done----then you can use it to make your list ...

Re: Query: Unibeltrasia: The Fallen Prince
First and foremost, arvales12, never feel embarrassed about making errors while getting critique---that's what these forums are here for, everyone makes mistakes and everyone needs critique. No one writes a perfect query or a perfect manuscript on the first try. Revisions are more difficulty and oft...

Re: Query: The Remnant
While your book sounds intriguing and your word count is right in line with where it should be for the genre, you're still not getting your story across well with this query. You can either open or close with the title/word count/genre and the fact that you're seeking representation---agents are spl...

Re: Any M/M erotic romance writers in here?
Not stalkerish at all. That's what Twitter is for. Besides, half my followers are erotic romance authors. I don't think you actually are following me, though, or else Twitter has messed something up (for a change). Didn't see your name listed.

Re: Characters with accents
I love a character with an accent as long as it's not hitting you over the head. I agree that it's best to mention it somehow and use different terms/phrasing/expressions to get the accent across rather than using special spelling to phonetically "show" the reader that the person is speaki...

Re: Synopsis Tips.
A synopsis is a complete summary of your book from beginning to end. It should be told in an omniscient 3rd person voice, regardless of what POV is used in the book itself. You should ideally have a few versions of your synopsis that are varying lengths (and level of detail). Some agents want a 1-2 ...

Re: My Novel is finish.
Yes, absolutely---Mark, Claudie and Writersink are giving you very sound advice. Ideally you should find yourself a few critique partners (writers who will exchange your pages for theirs while you provide critical input to one another ranging from correcting typos to pointing out plot holes or incon...
