Re: CreateSpace, LuLu, SmashWords...Which One?

If all the tech and formatting stuff is killin' you then you should consider having a pro format your book into epub and Mobi. This way you have the files and then you can create an account and upload where ever you want. The drawback to this is that if you find errors later or want to make changes ...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread

Congrats Mark. You will be surprised how much turbo writing you can get done during nap times and in between diaper changes. For all the contests finalists. Oh yeah....fist pump. After 50 versions and prototypes, I've finally worked out all the bugs in the iPad version of my book. It really 'feels' ...

Re: Weird Writing Habits

I forget a lot of stuff which is a good and a bad thing. Sometimes I start an essay and I find two files with the same name already in my computer and each one is 2/3 done. That is a good thing I suppose because it must a be a good idea if I already wrote about the topic. When I was revising my book...

Re: How do you know if your writing is any good?

Sharing your creative works is terrifying. Period. Even when there were thirty people at my most recent reading staring at me and laughing at my words, I'd have a tinge of self-doubt. I've never been so insecure in all my life until I started writing and SHARING! Now I know why so many musicians and...

Re: It Feels Like Peer Pressure Sometimes

Blooooooooging in a traditional sense is a ton of work but it's a good idea to have a place to archive and post your writing. Being able to refer people to a place to read your goodness can help. There are already too many "I'm trying to get published and need a blog" Blogs out there alrea...

Re: Self-Publishing Through POD?

There are whole books about this stuff. I'm using Lightning Source and am happy with them. From what I've heard, Createspace can be more of a one stop shop if you have cover design to work out. I used Aaron Shepherd's book as a resource. Here's a review that popped up when I googled .... http://podp...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?

I organized a reading in my old hometown in Illinois last week. There's something to be said about heading back to the place where you had your first drink, had your first touchy-feely, and graduated from that place called "HIGH" school. This was my third time presenting my multimedia-styl...

Re: Do you compose in your mind?

I thing there's a saying about writers that says, "Writers are always working."

In your head work is working.

Re: Calling All Translators!

Thought I'd bump this post up with all a lot of distributors opening "stores" in different countries. What was/is the standard way of translating a book? Is there an upfront fee or does a translating entity get a cut of the international sales? Any companies out there that specialize in th...

Re: Fight like hell for your literary dreams!

Have to say that your bio on you Kickstarter page made me laugh. Something about starting to write when you were "young." You look pretty young to me bro'. I "kicked" in a ten spot. Sort of bugs me that Kickstarter doesn't accept Paypal because I leave a little in my Paypal from ...

Re: Fight like hell for your literary dreams!

Life is too short when compared to the potential immortality of your writing. Our baby doc read my book and said, "What a beautiful thing to leave behind for your sons." Good luck with everything. This forum has ridiculous amounts of info and a lot of people who share their knowledge. May...

I sit at my computer for probably 20 hours a week and write creatively on projects probably three of those hours. Damn Bransford Forums. Damn Facebook. Damn remodeling contracts. Damn work-work.

Re: Ranking Idea...Ethical or not?

The part of me that thinks of tactics like this and my muse don't really connect. My muse needs a pretty clear channel in order to speak to me. So, I think the danger of tactics like this, although extremely tempting, is that they might not allow you to feel clear about your writing I think I get y...

Re: After 150+ hours of work, she is ready (Revised website)

That is a pro-grade site. The 150 hours shows. For the fantasy genre, I think it is important to add to the "world" you create in your book. You have done that for sure. On the home page you might want to make the logos for Amazon, iPad, etc work as links. Some people might want to click s...

Hillsy. I'd like to check out those documentaries. I'm a doc guy for sure.
Matt. You are right about the 35%. Lame idea but it sounded good for 24 hours. One has to have lame ideas to balance out the brilliant ones. Balance is the key to a healthy life. :)
Lots of other ideas brewing.
