Re: The Coffee Shop - JULY

I didn't actually "do" the coffee shop June, so I'm ready to get comfortable for the July one! I'm suffering with a bout of the "Am I Crazies" right now. I just don't feel good enough :( Sorry to be a downer.

And writersink, was it you who linked to the Pub Rants post? I'm sorry, I don't remember. Either way, thank you. I'm absolutely putting the cart before the horse. Back to writing I go...

Re: J.K. Rowling's new book - The Casual Vacancy

I personally think they just want as much money as possible. They probably think because it is Rowling people will be willing to fork out more in the same way people will pay more for a pair of sunglasses with a well known name of a designer on the side. So yeah, I agree with Doug.

Re: My Novel is finish.

Oh okay. So basically I have to find a critic partner then and send them my manuscript? Yes, and in return you would have to be ready to give them some really good critique back :) I'd recommend getting more than one: one person may not pick up on something dodgy which another person might. Plus, w...

Re: Middle Grade Protagonist

Sorry for coming so late to the party on this one. I think YES, but that is my personal opinion. Generally I tend to find children relate to people their own age. An eight year old is going to relate to an eight year old character's problems in a way they won't relate to an eighteen year old. Howeve...

I tend to write whenever I have time, sitting in bed with my laptop in my lap. Does that count as a weird habit?

Re: Writing in 1st and 3rd

If it makes you feel any better, Oldhouse, I wrote my MS starting in first, then redid it in third, then halfway through, restarted in first with some third for another character, and now I am rewriting it again all in 1st from the MC's POV, except in one flashback scene. That's a LOT Of rewriting....

Trixie,

It's weird, because leaving out the critique group, I'm experiencing all the same issues. I just want to echo all the other sentiments already given.

Dear Agent, Twenty-year-old Feyana Belmaron – the first ever female Prince of Swans, heir to the throne of Amgovar – should be the most powerful woman alive. Instead, she is a prisoner. After a wartime disaster killed the queen and irreparably scarred Feyana’s face, Feyana’s father confined her to ...

Re: Formal Training

I've never taken a "formal" writing workshop. However, I've learned so much stuff through writing blogs and through the other writers on these forums and on others. So I would say learning the way I am works best for me. It is tailored to what I need to learn more about, and I can research...

Re: Constantly second guessing

One: a fictional autobiography which has been my focus these past few weeks What's a fictional autobiography? I think you can write two books at once, like Charlee says, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll probably end up favouring one over the other. If I can't make any decisions I can't finish a ...

I'm the opposite. I can't work without noise in the background, as long as no one is directly talking to me. I NEED music otherwise I'll think of it as too quiet, and hence boring. Then, I simply won't write.
