Re: What do you do when an idea takes over?
Usually save it for later. But take notes on it, to get it out of my system so I can focus on what I'm doing.

My new website is ready
http://mattlarkin.net/ Well that was some work. Back to the writing... ...Ok, a little bit about the site and why I dropped the blog. I wanted a static website because blogging kind of lost its luster. It was a fun experiment. I don't regret it, mainly because it taught me my time is better spent el...

Launching a freelance editing career
Nathan, I'm trying to start a career as a freelance editor. I've already graduated from the University of Denver Publishing Institute, but didn't want to move away from Florida. Do you have any advice on how to build an initial client base and develop a reputation?

I'm far away from actually publishing, but I love hearing about people's experiments and what is working for folks.
I did a fun interview about this recently, for the Open Book Society.

Re: The Introduction Thread
Hi, folks. I just signed up today, after lurking intermittently for quite a while. I've been a science fiction fan since I was a kid... so I've gone and written an espionage novel. And another one is in the works. I'm currently mired in the misery that is querying, with a few last revisions on the ...

Re: Do you ever sleep on it?
Yeah--showers, driving, that kind of mindless thing helps me. Sometimes when I'm reading or watching other stuff something clicks, too. Sleeping doesn't usually unlock much per se, unless I was just so tired I needed a fresh perspective.

Re: Share Your Summer Reading List
Twist by Dannika Dark (finished)
The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton (current)
King's Blood by Daniel Abraham (probably next)
After that I'm not sure what's next. I don't have as much of a concrete plan as you, Sommer. It is kinda cool to see things lined up like that, though.

Re: I'm desperate for writing podcasts.
I was going to say Writing Excuses, but Brenda got there first, like the shopper carrying off the last fresh baguette as you round the aisle end. HA! The fluffy fresh deliciousness of that last baguette shall be MINE, and I shall nom on it and laugh at the desolate look on your face when you realiz...

HillaryJ wrote:"Why don't Mongolians cry?" once brought someone to my blog, after which I searched it top to bottom to try to figure out how they'd gotten there.
I missed this when it was first posted. That's awesome.
