Re: When to Query an agent

It's also easier to write the query before the book because you won't have all the subplots and details packed into your head and trying to spill out onto the page. That's one of the biggest issues I've seen with queries, too much incidental crap.

Re: Writer's block

Write through it. The results are never as bad as feared. It's not something you can give in to if you're going to make a living at this.

National Novel Writing FEBRUARY 2012

Okay, who's up for another go? 30,000 words in a month, 50,000 if you're feeling ambitious (and I am). One post per person, edited as often as necessary to reflect updated word counts. 2/01: 1900 2/02: 2900 2/03: 0 (because ppl wouldn't leave me the heck alone...going to start turning off cell phone...

Re: Urban Fantasy vs Paranormal

Where are the lines drawn for these? Is there a "Suburban Fantasy?" "Suburban Fantasy" would fit more into "Contempory Fantasy" or "Paranormal " than the current definition of urban fantasy. Much depends on style and story elements. In recent years, modern fa...

I'm afraid we've all been so busy with holidays and life that our welcome wagon didn't come round with the virtual coffee and cookies. A belated welcome to zrisso, madmcgee, and rotor_bolt.
