Re: FLY or NOT FLY ???
I used to love flying too, but am put off my the new machines. Don't really care about the patdowns. I mean, it's a small price to pay for security. Does anyone know how much radiation is emitted by these machines? I wouldn't want my children being exposed, or me for that matter, considering I'm pre...

Re: Stupid things we think about
If there is such a thing as reincarnation, then could it be possible that reincarnation is not a linear event? Could I be reborn in 1478 A.D.? That might explain why some people can predict the future . . . Perhaps they actually lived it. Oooh! Dibbs on that novel concept!!! New WIP, here I come!

Re: Page Critique Friday 11/12/10
Two things ran through my mind when I opened this thread. The first being, 'I LOVE page critique Sunday!', and the second, 'Holy crap! That's MY page!" :) Thank you so much for your critiques! I'll definitely be following the advice. The agent I really, really want has the partial for this nove...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
Congratulations! Also, I've heard that babies who don't sleep a lot turn out smarter... so that can cheer you up when you're stumbling around sleep-deprived. Haha! Thanks! I hope you're right. It's amazing how voluntary sleep deprivation (i.e. writing until 3am every morning) is so much easier to d...

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
Thanks, guys! I'm hoping my good luck carries through with this partial (and that my new baby daughter works out the difference between night and day so that I can get SOME sleep!). :D

Re: The SQUEE GOOD NEWS Thread
Does having a baby count as Squee Good News? If so, I had a baby girl 2 weeks ago!!! I'm still so stoked that it's a girl! I honestly thought I was having another boy :D So, Chloe Isabelle has brightened our lives and completed our family (unless I forget how painful her birth was and decide to add ...

Re: Screen Names
I was commenting in the "Random Things About You" thread about my screen name and had a thought. Some of us have interesting screen names. I wonder, what does yours mean? How did you come up with it? For me, mine is Spanglish (half Spanish, half English) - "dios" (God) 4 "v...

Re: Screen Names
Sommer is my first name. Not a penname. I've really been Sommer my whole life :-) Leigh, however, is not my real last name. It is my middle name. When I decided I was going down the publishing route and I wanted to switch over my online presence to dedicate to my writing life and journey towards pu...

Re: What's your favorite song that tells a story?
Oooh! Good topic, Nathan. One of my favourites is We're Going To Be Friends - covered by Jack Johnson. It's very fitting for me, considering I went to kindergarten, primary school, and high school with the guy I married. I walked down the aisle to this song at our wedding :) http://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: Query Chat returns with Special Guests!!
I feel like such a crap friend that I never participate. One day I will be ready to query…one day… You always have the best guests! Maybe you could wrangle Nathan one day… ;-) Bah, I guess I'll keep you around. ;) And Nathan is welcome any time, but something tells me he's busy. ;). He's practicall...

Re: Favorite activity to avoid writing
SIMS!!! Is it bad that I've created my characters and am playing out their relationships from my novel? No? Good :) ROTFLMFAO. Me too. Want worse? Creating yourself and all your family and friends...and ten minutes into it, letting them do what they want, they're all doing exactly what the real peo...

Re: Favorite activity to avoid writing
Sommer - I like your strategy! Good thinking. ;) You play games, too? Cool. What do you like? And I'm immersed right now in the Sims, but I love any good strategy game - Civilization is a favorite - or role-playing game. While I'm in school, I only allow myself to play casual games - otherwise I'd ...

Thanks, Mira! Although, I'm so uncomfortable that even sleeping is difficult right now! I think I need to make a trip to NASA to float around in a zero gravity chamber :PMira wrote:Jaime - congratulations!! :)
