Hi Nathan,
I also have a question on polish. An agent was kind enough to ask for a partial a week ago, but after I sent it, I realized that I'd left out an word (a preposition) in the middle of one sentence. Will that be very detrimental to my chances?

Re: synopsis: flight
I'll help =) Hello. Any help I can get strengthening my synopsis from this fierce forum crew would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. “Please,” she whispered, “just watch.” And then Maria let her body relax for the first time in eight years. She let the sickening burn out from the black hole sh...

Re: Requested Material... what do I do?
Ug, I'm so stupid... Sorry for the redundant post. Apparently, I was so excited by new mail that I didn't read the agent's name carefully. The full request is not from the same agent as the partial request; it's from a previous pages request. The two agents have similar first names and similar tones...

Re: Time to Fess Up - How Long Is It Taking You?
I think I may be out there when I say it took me 3 years to write mine. 1 to plan it and its series, another to do research on the market and taste, and a 3rd to write the one I have. It started out as 100k, then shrank to 90k, then 80k, and now it's hovering around 79k

Re: Synopsis - MEETING OF THE WATERS (mid-length)
I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but while I was reading this, a few of my friends who play online games started reading over my shoulder and would like to know if this is adult or young adult. They pointed out that the plot seems trivial for adult fiction and cheesy for YA (One of them would like to ...

Re: Voice and YA
I'm not sure if this is helpful, but as a bunch of YA living in a dorm, we have this discussion often. I think YA voice is summed up as "stuff needs to happen and it has to be interesting". Most of us have not yet had a) a midlife crisis, b) an epiphany past "oh sh** we had homework?&...

Requested Material... what do I do?
Me again. So my 2nd partial finally came back, and the agent would now like to see the full manuscript. The odd thing is that in regards to the partial, she sent me two e-mails (6 hours apart). The first one told me to send it as an email attachment. The second one told me to send it to the followin...

Re: Kick-Thyself Moments
Head thud moment...
So after reading through the partials, I realized that I had accidentally sent out the wrong draft of my first 50 pages to the first agent that requested my partial. I don't know if there's any way to remedy that, but lesson learned. Double check everything X)

Re: Disobedient Chapter. Help edit please
@ everyone: thank you all for your feedback, and wildheart for pointing out the drift. I've considered everyone's opinions, and have decided to make all the changes that were mentioned at least twice. Adverbs and adjectives were shot, subject-verb sentences were reduced, the button's been turned int...

Re: Disobedient Chapter. Help edit please
Thanks for your feedbacks =). I'm still a little confused. Can anyone point out when the story starts getting interesting? As in give me a sentence? I need to go back and troubleshoot the stuff before it. The fashion part was intended to draw attention to his inconsistent style of dress (having worn...

Disobedient Chapter. Help edit please
After two request fails, I've decided that the manuscript needs work. I'm sorry it's so long, but after reads and re-reads (and friend reads, I've decided that this is where my novel loosens up. Please edit and tell me if some parts are a) superfluous, or b) boring as hell. thanks so much. -B --- Ch...

Problem with Queries? Help please
I was going through my queries and I realized something. Of the queries I sent out, all the ones I pasted pages into were silent. Every query I sent out without pages pasted in replied (yes or no). According to the agents websites and query tracker, all of these silent agents do send rejection lette...

Re: the Agent you came to the dance with
From the sound of it, neither have yet to offer representation. If so, wait for one to offer. If it's the 2nd agent, then let the other one know someone has offered. If the 1st agent still won't offer, go with the 2nd one. If the 1st agent does offer, research both more and review their client lists...

Eh... Author bio?
I got another partial request (which is good) but it says to send the synopsis (which is okay) and an author bio with it (which isn't so good). I have no writing achievements, art and music won't bail me out (will it?), and I'm an undergrad sophomore pre-med/law-not-writing. Everyone else seems to h...
