Re: Nook now $149

Nah, I think Amazon is just going for as wide a distribution of their platform as possibly. Makes it easier for them to sell ebooks.

Re: Rookie Mistakes?

The thing with cliches is that they change. Things go in and out of fashion. I mean, a decade ago it seemed like every romance I read had someone that made it rich on the stock-market. Now its vampires. So stuff that was cliched 20, 15 years ago is maybe not cliched anymore. That goes to phrasing, t...

Re: Creating an author web site

I see on my wordpress blog a button to move it to a different host. So I guess it would be able to do it. I suppose you can start with one of the free blogs (wordpress, blogger, live journal) to get an idea, a feel for it and move it later once you actually get a book deal. The themes you get with t...

Re: What you want to write VS what you write

I've always thought it is a good thing your story starts writing itself. you don't know where half the ideas are coming from but they are coming and its probably a better idea not to fight them. but to answer the question, not much. i get a scene in my head and i let it move around my head for a few...

Re: Why do you reread books?

I reread pretty much only when nothing on my TBR pile appeals . It is usually a large, fairly exciting pile, so I have to be in a mood. I got some trust books that I can always read. The Belgariad series by David Eddings is at at the top of this list and I don't know what it is about them, I suppose...

Re: VAMPIRE WRITERS

might also be interesting to know if they write vampires in paranormal romance or urban fantasy or horror.

I am not. I write urban fantasy/fantasy and so far no vampires have made their way inside my story

That's interesting. But, truthfully, I am not sure I want pictures at all. I think it would interrupt my reading flow.

Re: Scrivener and Windows Alternatives

I like OneNote from Microsoft. Ditto. I've tried all the software already mentioned here and nothing comes close to what you can do with OneNote. For actual writing I use Word. OneNote is incredible for organizing. If I'm out somewhere and happen to see something inspirational and I've got my camer...

Re: How do your reading habits influence your writing?

I write for me. I have to figure that if I am bored with my own writing, my eventual audience will be too. So if I am interested, maybe others will be too. Besides trends change, you know?

Re: Urban Fantasy

Not sure if yours would. Urban fantasy is usually set in an urban area, but I am not sure it has to be (can't think of any examples where urban fantast is set in the country though) and I am pretty sure the city doesn't have to be real, though it usually is. Even if the city is supposed real, it can...
