Re: Music or quiet when you write?
To me, music has always equated to partying so when I hear it, I have to get up and dance.
When writing, I require the silence of the dead. A dog barking down the road is enough to drive me insane so when I sit down to write the ear plugs go in and I don't surface again until I'm done.

Re: Craptastic covers... what are your pet peeves?
I hate when a book series randomly changes their cover art halfway through... *Sigh* I too am with anyone that dislikes covers featuring real people (especially in urban fantasy where they all seem to be bad-ass tattooed chicks holding some kind of magical stick). I also dislike the glossy finish. O...

Re: What are you reading now?
For the first time since I can remember I don't have a book waiting for me beside my bed... I have just finished the Vampire Academy series - again - by Richelle Mead (lame title but awesome books) and I think I might actually get around to starting her Eugenie series now. I've put in off because th...

AussieCon
Is there anyone who is going to AussieCon4 this year? Or anyone that has been to a WorldCon?
This will be my first writer's convention (there are few held in Australia) and I was wondering what to expect?

Re: How old are you?
I'm 21 and happy to be. Then again, I was happy to be 20 and happy to be 19... I have a feeling it'll always be that way. I look at every year I age as a year I get to learn more things. I have been writing for soo long. My mum still has all the little books I used to write when I was younger and sh...

Re: The Introduction Thread
Hey guys, My name's Heather and I'm from the great land of Aus. I've had Nathan's blog bookmarked for a while now but I've only just decided to become a member of these forums. Currently I am polishing my MS called 'A life in Death'. Although this isn't the first one I have written it is the first I...

Re: Ask Nathan
Hi Nathan, I just have a quick question for you that relates to querying agents. I live in Australia and at the moment there are very few agents that are a) looking at my genre and b) accepting anything unsolicited. This leaves me with about two agencies that I can query. If neither of these work ou...

Re: Do you need a Critique Partner?
Hey guys, First off yes, this thread was a good idea. You'd be surprised how little Australia has to offer the literary world. *Sigh* I'm looking for a crit partner to go over my 85,000 word MS. It's YA fantasy currently in it's final stages of revision and my main focus is to weed out any plot inco...
