Re: Bestsellers that don't live up to the hype
Taylor- I LOVE James Fraser!!! He is definitely one of my faves. (thinking of him in the hot spring at the monastery) It just after Voyager, he lost his spark. I dont want to read about the relations of a couple almost into their 60s- Its just wrong... His character also got weaker in the later book...

Bestsellers that don't live up to the hype
I guess I started thinking about all of the books I read because they were bestsellers that were dreadful to read. Actually, I would rather have had my toenails plucked out while getting a pap smear at the Superbowl for a few of them :) I really don't even understand how many of these books get such...

Re: New Manuscript - What do you think of this style?

The Time Traveler's Wife was painful to read
I just don't understand why or how this book was so widely praised. I absolutely HATED this read. It was a daunting task to finish this novel.
Have you read it? What did you think?

Thanks Emily! If you want I can send you a little synopsis and you can tell me (honestly) what you think, being a "huge greek mythology nerd" :)

Re: adding a second POV
Is the investigation necessary? can the story be told fully from the victim's perspective focusing on her emotion/frustration/pain and finally overcoming?

Critique Groups vs Online Writing Workshops
I need another set of eyes to keep me on track and to push me. 1. Have you found critique groups useful or do they just respond with "that was nice"? 2. Online writing workshops- are they worth it? Which are your favorite? 3. Do you belong to any local or national groups, ie. Romance Write...

I think you should just jump into Fellowship of the Ring, (I take it you've probably watched all 3 movies already).
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Re: The Introduction Thread
I finally mustered enough courage to quick lurking and actually participate here!!
I am currently working on a romance novel with a mythological edge. When I'm not writing or reading I am a mom, wife, business owner, and shower singer.
