Re: Reading Rate?
But if you studied average readers (and I read about this long ago) they would not be reading close to fifty pages an hour. Plus it's not always about the speed you read... but about finding the speed that's most enjoyable for reading. For me that varies a lot. That's a very good way of putting it!...

Re: Favorite writing distractions
Hmmm...Nathan's forums? Nathan's blog? Nathan's general slew of information on his website. Pretty much Nathan...lol I didn't have this much trouble until I found him. Do I mind? Nope. I'm a sponge looking to soak up all the information I can. Aside from Nathan, what other distractions? My MBA progr...

Re: Do you have a rejection contingency plan?
Well, people will eventually read my work - that I am sure of. Currently, I could count my 16 critique partners (yeah, I know that's a lot - but it gives a lot of different perspectives too) and it satisfies me to know that they have a positive attitude about everything and have thus far loved what ...

Right this very second?!? Three things really - revising two completed ms's for mass appeal. Ahh...but the current wip....yes - that wonderful work of art on my computer, that's it. Kidding. My current women's fiction (or as my critique partners like to call it - romantic chic-lit) Is a road to rede...

Re: All right vs. Alright
I can't remember which publishing house had it listed on their website, but they made it very clear that is should be "all right" and not "alright". I found the info when I was looking over submission guidelines. It may have been Red Sage or something along those lines, publisher...

Re: Excerpt - The Dim Man
The ideas began to drip and then pour in as the meeting progressed. Webster furiously scribbled each one to the white board and when the white board was full, he'd instruct someone to copy them all down and he'd wipe it clean with the sleeve of his white shirt. I think this sentence is too long for ...

Re: Do you have a rejection contingency plan?
Why yes...yes I do! Keep writing. I decided long ago that I wouldn't let rejections hamper my dream of writing. Just because someone doesn't like your 1st novel doesn't mean they won't like your 2nd or 3rd. I'm still pretty optimistic about the whole thing and I don't let rejections get me down. It'...
