Some degree of solitude is necessary for creativity. But it can be hard to balance. I think it's one of those things arrived at mostly through trial and error.

Interesting link, Mira. To me, this seems more aimed at Apple than strictly pro e-book (since it focuses on the "glare," a problem iPad/iPhone/iTouches have, but not something I've heard many paper readers mention). The things I've found that quickly turn e-book skeptics into e-reader fans...

Dave, I agree with most of what you say, but the casual pirates I've known insist there are pirated versions that are pretty much indistinguishable from the retail versions, especially when it comes to newer bestsellers. Itunes sells movies and episodes of TV shows for more than .99, and both of those seem like better comparisons to books. I doubt that writers with established audiences will resort to .99 standard pricing.

Moving advice I give to everyone, but it applies double for people on a book forum:
Pack books (or anything heavy, really) in small boxes that are easy to carry. It will save your back and make the moving much less unpleasant (even if it takes a few more trips up the stairs to unload).
