Itunes sells movies and episodes of TV shows for more than .99, and both of those seem like better comparisons to books. I doubt that writers with established audiences will resort to .99 standard pricing.

Moving advice I give to everyone, but it applies double for people on a book forum:

Pack books (or anything heavy, really) in small boxes that are easy to carry. It will save your back and make the moving much less unpleasant (even if it takes a few more trips up the stairs to unload).
