Re: Quill Publishes on Amazon
Thanks, bcomet, MysticFiddler, and Sommer! A few words on marketing. I've only been at it a couple weeks since publication but I've already learned a lot. It's funny, after studying so much about it, I'm pretty familiar with the concepts, but the experience is a whole other thing. And for the record...

Re: Quill Publishes on Amazon
I published book 1 in February, and that short story in August, so I was actually pretty slow. I do, in fact, need to get titles out much more quickly to build an audience. I hope to release book 2 in October (yup just a few weeks from now). Otherwise, even with some good reviews, sales have slowed...

Re: Quill Publishes on Amazon
Thanks Matt! I see you've gone the self-pubbing route yourself. Congrats on your two books. You got that second one out pretty fast after the first. I plan to do the same, relatively (my first one took years!). I think Margo is right when she says self-publishers must think in terms of quick release...

Re: Do love interest characters need to be sexy?
On my blog this morning, I am hosting writer Sarah Belliston. I was intrigued by her idea for a guest post in that she challenges us as writers to look beyond our first or even second inclinations to write characters in specific ways. What do you think...do love interest characters need to be movie...

Re: With a twist...
If clues are too subtle the reader will likely get angry. Few readers will read a book more than once, especially if it was not satisfying the first time. Best to learn the conventions of one's genre in order to find the right level of disclosure in a story. You may not get that second chance. But y...

Re: Query: Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
If you are looking for quirky, edgy fiction with a touch of magical realism, then I’m the writer for you. Cut this unprofessional opening. It smacks of auditioning your tap dance for a traveling minstrel show. Let your writing show your moves instead. Dwight Howard is an unhappy pet store dog train...
