Writing Play

A few weeks ago I took Amiee up on a writing prompt she put out for a blog contest. Super thrilled to discover that I have been honored as the winner. Check out the post http://aimeebeatricejodoin.blogspot.com/2011/08/and-winner-of-beginning-contest-is.html for a bit of fun. As so many people have h...

Re: What's My Name Again?

Odd question. What is in a name? In my history as a reader it is much more often that I remember an impression or an act of a character than I remember their name. Even in films I have that 'problem' What'shisface who kisses so and so five seconds after they met. Who does that? At least in the begin...

Re: Sold my soul to Twitter

This morning I stamped both feet, woke my downstairs neighbors and .......... registered on Twitter. I'm not nervous like Trixie. But then again, yes, I think I am nervous. I would like to keep my life, thanks very much. All I've heard is that Twitter sucks it all up like a dirt devil.

Re: Google+

Errr....its been around since like 2008 :-P One interesting thing I've read with Google+ is that it is not for businesses, and they have been canceling business accounts left & right because of it. Would guess that means they have nothing like "pages" or the like? I heard the business...

Re: 250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

Unique. It’s one of those words thrown out so much that it loses it meaning. Not in my case. I truly am one of a kind. But when people call me special, it’s said in either a mocking tone or a voice dripping with pity. Yes, I am one of a kind, but only by the process of elimination. The elimination ...

Re: 250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

The two-foot tall tree creature is Hector. He's half-mimosa, half-fox, and all pissed off. XD He's actually a cutie with his fuzzy head. I was about to ask about this context when I saw this. On its own the text is confusing but the sheer In-Your-Face writing drew me in if only to understand if my ...

Re: 250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

Man, I hate I'm late to the party (we have outta town comp'ny), but better you than never late than me ...aw hell, you know what I mean. I'm not much good at critiques and worse about picking good better and best. I can say that y'all could have gone over 250 words and I wouldn't notice. Any way, I...

250 Word Sharathon--post the opening of your WIP

On the banks of the Kennet a boy once ran faster than the current. For a man this would have been not at all a challenge. But for a boy the pace was urgent for his whole life was ahead of him. The cherry trees bloom along the Kennet. A cluster of them sit squat and round while he sits hunched and ga...

Re: Just how good are YOUR first 250 words?

Perhaps a contest in the sense of the ancient Attic Orators' competitions? An antagoniste on his own initiative stands upon a block in the public forum and speaks his piece. Spectators might gather and listen, judge, and remark to each other on the caliber of the speaker's argument, style, craft, v...
