Re: Do you ever sleep on it?

Yea, but I'll usually get them on the cusp of sleep. I'll be about to fall asleep, when all of the sudden, BRILLIANCE! I always have a paper and pen by my bed.

Re: Family interference

I have similar problems with my father. Mostly:

"Wow, you're still tinkering with that thing?"

Or, "Wow, your paper have a lot more read than mine." (He's a contractor)

Re: The Coffee Shop - JUNE

I'm going to pretty much echo what everyone else said. 1. If you need a beta, I'll be more than happy to look at it for you. :D :D 2. Yea, do you know how long it took me to do this re-write? Well, over a year, and I'm STILL working on changes. But I'm kinda slow. I don't write every day, and while ...

I want the ebola plushie. Although the flesh eating virus is pretty cute (That doesn't seem right saying that).

Sommer: I'm not surprised at your sudden super powers. I caught a fly with my hand the other day. I think we'll make a great fly killing team.

Re: Description Tips and Tricks

I'm much like Sommer, in that I'll overwrite a description, then edit it down later. I'm constantly tightening up the prose and searching for better descriptions. Most start out pretty basic, until I can think of something better later. And like someone else said (Hillsy?), I try to get into my char...

Re: Other Forms of Expression

I'd be a painter, or an illustrator. Painting/ sketching is one of my hobbies. One of my dreams though is to write and illustrate a comic.

Re: Game of Thrones (or, what am I going to do for 9 months?)

The TV show does take a few deviations from the books, so there still will be a few surprises on both formats if you decide to read the books. They're not as drastic as True Blood though (which I won't even watch anymore).

Re: The Coffee Shop - JUNE

Gah! How did I miss this? Oh right, I haven't been on in like forever.

In book news, I finished my rewrite. It took me slightly longer than I wanted, but hey, I picked up extra hours at work. I'm going through one more round of edits before I send it out to my CPs. That thing took me forever. :)

I loved The Way of Shadows. Made Weeks one of my favorite writers.
I like it too. I'm almost done with it.

Re: I Wish I Could Write Like...

I'm going to third Markus Zusak. Also, Anne Rice, JK Rowling, and Anne McCaffrey. I wish I could set up mystery and intrigue the way GRRM does. Maybe I'm not devious enough, or something. :)

Re: National Novel Writing MAY

I am in! My goals are: 1. I had already set the goal to finish the current draft of TLF by the 31st, so this works. 2. Finish and submit the short I'm working on. 3. Write 30K 4. Either start new project (Shiny New Ideas all over the place!) or go back and clean up sci-fi from NaNo. That's four. I'm...

Re: How long do you take to finish a draft/ WIP?

My first drafts take about a year. Sometimes shorter. However, editing and revising them take a lot longer. I think my average is about 3 years from the first words to the final draft.
