Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments
LOL Mira, I think we can still be friends. ;) Hope the rant helped. :D I love a good rant once in a while. For the record, I completely understand. I also disagree completely with those that treat writers badly and unprofessionally. I think I've just seen less of that, but probably because as soon a...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
I'm having a little challenge over on my blog. :) Fall Flash Challenge: Picture Prompt It’s time to get down and dirty for the wonderful, creepy Halloween season. I love this time of year, don’t you? Rules: Your challenge is to write a flash piece, no more than 1000 words in length. It can be about...

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments
So for those of you 100% against it, what do you think about the more appropriate examples given in this thread? I 100% agree that the venting and such comes off unprofessional. But if I'm following someone that uses those more appropriate examples (as mentioned above) I don't get offended by it. I'...

Re: Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments
I know some people get really offended by this, but I honestly find some of it very instructional. Again, I don't think any of it should be specific enough to out the sender, and it shouldn't be demeaning to the writer. Agreed. I've seen agents and interns that have used this method in a profession...

Agents/Interns Tweeting Query Comments
I'm interested in hearing the opinions related to an issue that was brought up on Twitter today. (Not the first time.) Some agents and/or agent interns have been known to tweet out commentary as they read through the query pile. (Totally made up example: YA book about vamps again. Great query makes ...

Congrats to katehyde, whose page is below: Title: The Vestibule of Heaven Genre: "Book club" fiction Word count: 250 I knew her, of course, the first time she came to the house; one of the advantages of being dead is the ability to see beneath the surface. When I willed the house and all ...

Re: Page Critique Friday 10/1/10
[quote="Nathan Bransford"]I have two main thoughts. The first is opening the first sentence with someone who is dead. I know there's a temptation to want to just go ahead and alert the reader that the narrator is dead, but over the past few years the "Description description, but then...

Re: What's your favorite song that tells a story?
There are so many great ballads and songs that tell whole stories, from Hurricane by Bob Dylan to Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles. What's your favorite? I'm going to have to go with the Mariner's Revenge Song by the Decemberists. It doesn't surprise me at all that the lead singer, Colin Meloy, is goin...

Re: Do any of you other unpublished authors have websites?
Man! I've been working on a job related website for two days now...and I'm exhausted. :) I had wanted to give my website a nice new shiny look soon, but this one has drained me enough to want a break. Suddenly my site doesn't seem so bad. ;)
