Re: What's your editing style?

Both and one more.

I'll do an on-screen edit, in which my eyes only catch a certain amount. Then I'll take it to my e-reader, where my eyes catch even more, and I'll do a final one on paper. And I guarantee there will still be typos!

Re: Emotional Overload

I'm hoping Sanderling will come and help me out, cause I feel like my entire WIP (which she just read) is male emotional overload. I doubt it the actual emotionality or the depth of emotion that's causing you problems. Saying that you write a male 'over-emotionally' isn't really correct, because tha...

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

The idea occurred on March 7, I started writing on March 9.

So, March 9-July 27. Around 5 months, or 141 Days. I suppose that is pretty quick! Especially for me.

Re: Where to Start with Sci-fi

I've always loved Stephen Lawhead's EMPYRION series. (which I need to read again, it's been awhile)

You can never go wrong with C.S. Lewis' PERELANDRA series either.

I haven't read it, but isn't Ender's Game Sci-Fi?

Re: When writing isn't your full-time job.

I'm a full-time Master's student, so I definitely feel your pain. On top of classes, I work for the school as a recruitment officer (as my assistantship), I work in the office, and I have an internship with Entangled publishing. I honestly don't know how I fit in time to write sometimes, and I won't...

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

We also went to the book store and I discovered an awesome book by Margaret Atwood I'd never heard of before, which is weird because I have several bookshelves dedicated to her works. YOU LOVE HER TOO? It doesn't really count as August (since it was the end of July) But I was on vacation so I didn'...

If I made a spreadsheet, it would be a very beautiful spreadsheet. It would be pretty and color coded and such, but it wouldn't help me at all!

Re: When do you seek outside opinion?

I write fairly clean first drafts, so I do it after the first draft. I send it to my Alpha reader/CP. (and there are still many typos. Much to Seabrooke's annoyance I'm sure) Then I'll do some revisions, especially since the alpha reading time has given me some distance. Then I'll take it to my gene...

Re: Learn a Language to Procrastinate

I can read and make sense of almost anything written in French. It's speaking/writing it myself -- especially verb conjugations -- and understanding when someone is speaking at normal speed. This is precisely me. I lived in Paris as a child, and I've lost so much! I can still understand and read, b...

Re: Character Flaw

It's good that you're thinking of this. It's something to seriously consider before you do. IMO, I would lean away from that. Because the majority of women portrayed in media who aren't 'conventionally' beautiful, are fat. and only used for the sake of being made fun of, or as a contrast to make the...
