I think I big question you need to consider is whether this change in character would be able to fill another book. If not, then I'd say you shouldn't do it, or perhaps tweak the current WIP. If yes, then go for it! Explore that possibility.

Yeah, not a fan of the "same price" thing. I doubt these books printed off in a flash will be of the same quality. It would be like paying the same amount of money at a drive-through as you'd pay at a fancy sit-down restaurant. Or paying more for an e-book than a print book.

Sounds like literary fiction. Although if there are more action scenes or scenes of extreme tension it could be a psychological thriller. What you described sounds like a complicated plot. Kudos on coming up with it!
