Pete, that is an awesome cover.
I assume you are published - how did your publisher take it when you told them you had already hired your own artist for your cover?

Re: Does your MS go up or down in size?
If you ever have to cut I'd cut down on descriptions. Nothing kills the pace more than 3-page long description of someone's clothing or eye color. Unless the extensive physical description of someone or a place adds to the story's plot or is significant in its meaning, I would stray away from long d...

Re: Craptastic covers... what are your pet peeves?
I designed my own cover myself and hired a 3D Argentinian artist I found on www.3dtotals.com to make a render of an image I wanted (which I drew on paper and scanned first). It cost me 400$. This is the same method J.J. Abrams used to find the artist that designed the Fringe opening credits, as well...

Re: TWILIGHT - thoughts?
It's not an epic fail if it made me laugh. She or he portrayed a sense of humor in that post, while speaking the truth. She forgot to mention the annoying arrogance and snobbery of some writers as a factor that boosts the popularity of those angry Twilight destructo posts, but I think that was meant...

Re: TWILIGHT - thoughts?
I read the first three and found them very interesting... it has an enticing story, but I realized I wanted more mythology and less romance...
I haven't read BREAKING DAWN yet and I'm not sure I want to.

Re: Reading Translations
I'm French Canadian and was raised entirely in French, except for the English lessons in grade and high school. Then when I was 7 my father moved to Ontario for his work, and since my parents were already bilingual (in fact most TV shows or movies they listened or watched were dubbed in English, sin...

Craptastic covers... what are your pet peeves?
I was having a blast reading your comments on TWILIGHT. I've been lurking around here for weeks now, I thought it would be finally appropriate to subscribe, to be polite and say hello! :) I've been posting on a few writing forums, and the common denominator seems to be that in all of these places, y...
