One man, 100,000 thousand ...

You probably thought I was going to say words, right? Anyway, it's not that amazing, so I didn't want to bother you by email, Nathan, but I thought you would enjoy this, when you have a moment: http://thisiscolossal.com/2011/04/one-man-100000-toothpicks-and-35-years-scott-weavers-rolling-through-the...

Re: W.I.P. Feedback: How Much Is Too Much?

IMHO there are different levels. I only work with about 2-3 critique partners, and we provide pretty deep feedback to each other, but once I'm done with revisions based on their opinions, I'll be sending it out widely to beta readers. I think it depends on how experienced you are, and how polished e...

Re: Proof of my Writerly Nerdhood

I suppose meeting an author through his blog after I fell in love with his recent release, and then having him send me one of very few ARCs six months before the release would have made me squee, if I did that kind of thing.

Re: Query children's chapter book

I've forgotten how much I like using the forums to critique, it's such a great format for it. See my thoughts below: Dear Agent, Herbert Henkleman great name is probably the greatest scientist in the entire world, next to the guy who invented biscuits and gravy. Monday’s science fair is his chance t...

Re: In case of zombie attack...

It depends on what your goals are. If you want to survive, you go to an island. Everyone knows Zombies can't swim, so you get across deep water from them. If you want to have fun, you go to the mall. Preferably one that also has a gun shop, just in case. Killing Zombies with sharp and blunt weapons ...

Re: Word Count?

I wish I didn't have to worry about it, but I have no choice. I'm so long winded that the first draft of my first novel ended up being more than 300,000 words long. That is basically not publishable. Not as a debut. Maybe if you're famous you can sell a book that size. Anyway, I had to cut, a lot. I...

Re: Must-follow Blogs

Is it stupid to point out that if you write you absolutely have to read and follow Nathan's blog? I don't know. If you're here in the forums I suppose it's safe to assume you also read his blog, but you never know. A few others I can highly recommend: Bryan (Ink), who is also the Sheriff of the foru...

Wow, that game was ugly. But congrats to Bryce Daniels for winning the tournament challenge!!! Please contact me to arrange the prize. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Okay, I didn't actually turn it off, but I did mute it and start listening to my A Clash of Kings book on tape. CONGRATULTIONS to ...

The stupid thing is that the one person who picked Butler doesn't have enough early round points even if they win.
