Hello again.
Wanted to report, that after a very tough year, I am myself again. I am writing. I am making art. I am hoping to begin dancing again in the future. And I am here again.
I just read through so many wonderful threads. This place is awesome.

Re: What is your writing weakness? (Let's call this therapy)
My biggest weakness, to date, is the failure to sell/market myself. I know. I know. But it is where I need my most help!

Re: Novel soundtrack?
I like complete silence when I write.
But I do have one novel that has a complete soundtrack addendum that connects into and complements the plot. I didn't plan for it, but it worked, sort of as a part of the "movie in my head" as I was writing!

Re: Writing Group Dilemma
Polymath, I know how deeply heartfelt your commitment is to writing and to writers you work with, both as equals and as editor. It shows from your comments all over this forum. You strive to move forward on issues always respectful of the writer as well as the writing. And you listen deeply to the f...

Re: Writing Group Dilemma
Collectonian, The work has no plot, no character growth, no arc, no movement. They are all static pieces, like description pieces of still-life sets, (sorry to be gross) but more like a very dirty toilet. The writer has expressed delight and goals for shocking readers. She insists that this is where...

Re: Writing Group Dilemma
Polymath, I really appreciate your comments. They would mean even more, as a directive or set of considerations to explore, if I (or anyone else in this group ) were a teacher or leader or monitor of a writing workshop/class/etc. or an editor. But this is not the case. It is a group of equals with t...

Re: Writing Group Dilemma
Hey Fall Apart, I tried that - and that might work, but it feels awkward and unsustainable. Possibly even rude. I also think that it would just serve to make the whole group uncomfortable. Hey Beetovanfan! Thanks! I appreciate that. Along with the tough tough road of recovery, I know how precious li...

Writing Group Dilemma
Hi All. I've recently experienced a very sad event in my beloved writing group. Our group has been together for about four years and has been wonderful. Every writer in the group has grown. Occasionally, our original organizer (fearless leader) has brought in a new person when the group has lost a m...

Re: Oh Crap Breast Cancer
I wanted to report in. I have just completed six weeks –five days a week– of radiation treatment. It was *intense* enough that I had to make a decision to continue with it every single day. I completed my last treatment on Monday and have been sleeping for the last forty-eight hours. I burned painfu...

Re: Novels With Multiple Plot Lines
First, have you read many novels that have intertwining plots? This is especially common in epic fantasy, I think (eg. George RR Martin's A Game of Thrones ,' I really liked that intertwining (and connecting!) in the first and third book. (The second book however just seemed like a connector book t...

Re: Need a short description!
I think of the "brother" in The Wedding Crashers. He was marvelously weird and paranoid.. He'd be easy and fun to describe through his actions and gestures.

Re: Oh Crap Breast Cancer
Working my way through the medical and the spiritual of it. An unraveling, a regrounding of what's important, and a leaping towards/into what will heal me. Love. Of course.
